The past decade has seen a vibrant investment market centered on food and agri technology, in part driven by the twin imperatives of sustainability and resilience in a changing climate and in response to changing consumer demands. Some returns have been atmospheric such as alternative protein first movers like Beyond Meat. Large agri and food houses have been keen investors and buyers as they respond to shareholder demands. However, this is a challenging space where biological systems rule, and many investors have been left with low yields.
